TESTIMONIALS
I would just like to thank you all for the awesome time we had on board Te Kuia.
For most of us that was a first on a charter boat, and the experience was so awesome we will be buzzing for awhile to come yet.
Please thank Scotty and Lance for their cool hospitality our young ones really enjoyed themselves.
Once again, an awesome experience, we loved every minute of it, and hope we can do it again.
Well what can I say to describe the 2 awesome charters I had with you.
Firstly the Thursday day trip was what I would consider a charter would be with 27 Tarakihi caught.
But Friday night was totally f******* out of my wildest dreams, man did it go off (well sort of expected it should) kingi’s, trevally and snapper.
For 20 years of coming to Whangamata I have tried to get on some sort of charter to catch just 1 reasonable size snapper. Most skippers have appeared to know what they are about but always under delivering and making you settle for a few Tarakihi – but thanks to your efforts, kindness and love of the sea you have fulfilled my wildest dreams.
Who would have thought I’d be throwing back legal snapper under 400mm just to catch bigger ones, WOW and we still end up with more than just a feed.
I’ll be back, I’m still buzzing, so again thanks for making it happen, thanks to Rusty and the dodgy pommie deck hand – it was totally mind-blowing and a memory that will only sound like a fishermans tale to me mates.
What a unique day we had today.
To say that it was a once in a lifetime experience is an understatement.
I would find it hard to believe that the sights and experiences we had today on your fishing charter could be duplicated. Besides the many different types of reef fish we caught, we saw so much wildlife; orca whales, dolphins and many different sea birds.
Both the Skipper and the deckhand were friendly characters and their expertise obvious, they were very approachable throughout.
The difference between good and exceptional customer service can be determined by the willingness of staff to “go that extra mile” and they gave an exceptional example of this. One customer on board was 84, and he needed a bit of assistance. He didn’t catch much during the day as he got a bit tired. The Skipper did some fishing during the day and caught quite a few. Unbeknown to this customer, he filleted them and put them in his chilly bin. As he was preparing to disembark he looked in his chilly bin, the expression on his face was priceless, that alone worth every cent of the fare!
Here are a few words about our stay with Raewyn and Hugh. During a recent trip around the Coromandel Coast and the Bay of Plenty on our Harley, we had the pleasure of spending a weekend with Raewyn and Hugh Ensor at their homestay in Welcome Bay, Tauranga. As well, during our stay, we also spent a day out on the water on the TS Ohorere, one of their 3 charter boats. Hugh proved he defintely knows where the fish are, and double hook-ups were the order of the day!
Throughout our stay with them, everything was provided and nothing was too much trouble. From a welcome cold beer on arrival followed by a poolside bbq, to a quiet drink from the private balcony watching the sun go down, this was an experience we won’t forget. Raewyn and Hugh’s home offers the highest quality accomodation, fantastic views, and they are excellent company. It would be fair to say that we had a blast! Importantly for this kind of stay, we also had the option of total privacy or enjoying the family atmosphere, depending on our mood.
A dip in their pool surrounded by the most peaceful bush and ocean views topped off each day. Talk nicely and they will even slip you a couple of slices of supurb Xmas cake with your cuppa! (Don’t forget to save a bite for Kaiser, their friendly dog! ) And Raewyn even cooked up some of our catch for breakfast before we left on Sunday – delicious!
We cannot recommend these happy and friendly people, their wonderful homestay and their excellent hospitality highly enough. We’ll be returning soon, and often.
